Zombies to Donate Thousands to RNC 8 and Scott DeMuth
Portion of Minneapolis Police Settlement to Go to Anarchists Facing Trial
Minneapolis, MN--The RNC 8 and Scott DeMuth, Twin Cities anarchist organizers facing trial this fall on politically motivated conspiracy charges, are receiving donations to their legal defense funds from an unlikely source--zombies who settled a lawsuit with the City of Minneapolis late last week.
The local television show Our World in Depth recently featured this video of the RNC 8 Defense Committee's town hall meeting of July 2010. The program included Carrie Feldman on her recent resistance to a federal grand jury, Dr. David Pellow on his recent experiences struggling for academic freedom, Dr. Neala Schleuning on anarchism, and attorney Jordan Kushner on the RNC 8 case.
Wednesday, June 9th was the fifth and last day of the RNC 8 motion hearings.
Judge Warner rejected the defense’s motion to call FBI informant Andrew Darst, and with that the oral arguments of the probable cause hearing ended. Both sides will submit further written arguments and the judge will take the issues under advisement after July 14th, determining whether there is probable cause to charge the defendants at all. If she determines that there is not enough evidence to determine probable cause, the charges will be thrown out.
